This page is for all those who are leading ministry with young people in the Auckland Diocese.
Are you new to leading youth and young adult ministry in your faith community?
The ACYM team are here to support you in a number of ways. Here are some tips for you.
Does the ACYM team have your contact details?
If no, please contact Rochelle at rochelled@cda.org.nz and give us your name, email address and mobile as well as which parish/group you belong to. Know that this means that we will keep your details on our database and that we will contact you at other times when we believe we have youth ministry information that would be relevant to you. We also encourage you to make contact with the regional representative for the area that you minister in – click here to find your representative.
Have you signed up to our weekly/monthly updates?
We have a weekly/monthly email update. These emails highlight the upcoming events especially for young people in the Auckland Diocese. The weekly email highlights all that is upcoming in the next week while the monthly email (sent the first Tuesday of the month) highlights all that is upcoming in the next month and would usually include anything major coming up in the next month. If you would like to subscribe for either of the emails please send your preferred email address to Rochelle Dias – rochelled@cda.org.nz.
These updates are a great opportunity for you to promote any events that you have that are open to anyone in the Diocese. If you would like your notice to be included in any of our updates, please send these through to Rochelle by Monday afternoon the latest, so that these can included in the update on Tuesday.
Resources
Sometimes being a new leader can be a bit overwhelming. If you have no idea where to start or are looking for ideas on youth ministry. We recommend you have a look at our resources page on our website. These include a number of documents that will help you on your leadership journey in youth and young adult ministry.
The core documents section on the website contain documents that are foundational resources to support youth groups and leaders. These include both local and national resources, and cover formation and policy for a successful youth initiative:
http://www.aucklandcatholic.org.nz/youth-young-adult-ministry/resources/.
On this page we particularly draw your attention to the ACYM Core Documents section and on that page to:
- Tu Kahikatea – Standing Tall | a framework for ministry to young people in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Hikoi Tahi – Standards for Catholic Youth and Young Adult Ministry | – know that this document is about to be updated in line with current Safe Church practices
Standards for Volunteers and Employees – for all ‘workers’ whether paid or unpaid – minister, volunteer or employee
The rest of the resources contain sessions that include prayers, games, activities etc that you can use with your own groups.
Books and other resources at ACYM
We also have books, DVD’s and other resources that you as a leader can borrow on loan from the ACYM team. If these are borrowed, they need to be returned within a certain period of time so that other leaders can have access to these as well. To have a look at the resources we have in the office, click here (add links to resources).
Diocesan Life Teen Subscription
We also have a Diocesan Life Teen Edge subscription. All resources are available on the Life Teen website: https://lifeteen.com/cym/. To gain access to the Diocesan subscription please contact Rochelle in the ACYM Office.
Emmaus | Leadership and Mentoring Programme
